APEC 2020

EVENT CANCELLED – “In light of growing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, and after much thoughtful deliberation, APEC and its sponsors, IEEE IAS, IEEE PELS, and PSMA have decided not to move forward with the in-person conference event scheduled for March 15- 19, in New Orleans, Louisiana.”

Celebrating 35 years, the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) brings together nearly 6,000 professionals, from around the world, for five days of powerful networking, hands-on learning, and strategic business development, including a vast exposition featuring the latest products and services.

The Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) focuses on the practical and applied aspects of the power electronics business. This is not just a designer’s conference; APEC has something of interest for anyone involved in power electronics:

  • Equipment OEMs that use power supplies and dc-dc converters in their equipment
  • Designers of power supplies, dc-dc converters, motor drives, uninterruptable power supplies, inverters and any other power electronic circuits, equipment and systems
  • Manufacturers and suppliers of components and assemblies used in power electronics
  • Manufacturing, quality and test engineers involved with power electronics equipment
  • Marketing, sales and anyone involved in the business of power electronics
  • Compliance engineers testing and qualifying power electronics equipment or equipment that uses power electronics

“The Long Term Future of Wireless Charging”

Milan Rosina, Principal Analyst , Power Electronics & Batteries at Yole Développement

Abstract: Wireless charging is a peculiar technology as it has a strong pull from integrators but not from the market itself. Even though the idea of wireless charging is seducing for consumers, and the use case exists, technical issues remain, and the industry is not ready yet. Wireless charging will be a thing for consumer electronics in the future, nevertheless it seems very complicated to envisage a future for automotive charging due to a lack of consumer interest and efficient solutions.

“The Power Electronics Industry is under many races: 300mm, SiC, GaN, Passives and more !”

Claire Troadec, Division Director, Power & Wireless at Yole Développement

Abstract: The Power Electronics industry is under many races: performance improvement and cost reduction are still continuing to be the essence of each technology brick. May it be for Silicon-based devices, SiC, GaN, Battery or passive components to name a few, the race is continuing and there is no other choice than moving forward and improving if you do not want to be left over and reduce your market window.
