12pm: A New Era of 3D Sensing Transforming Industries and Creating Opportunities
ABSTRACT:
The 3D sensing market is projected to more than double by 2030, surpassing $18B in revenue. Key drivers include the growth of automotive and industrial applications, with significant advancements in ADAS LiDAR, infrastructure monitoring, security, and robotics navigation. While the mobile sector remains dominant, 3D cameras are increasingly being integrated into other non-smartphone devices such as personal robotics, projectors, and XR headsets. 3D sensing has become a critical technology for enabling perception and intelligence across various applications, including biometrics, navigation, environmental tracking, people monitoring, and medical diagnostics. The market has remained highly concentrated, with the top 9 companies capturing over 85% of revenue in the consumer segment over the 2022-2023 period. However, a competing ecosystem is emerging, bringing new value to the sector. Technological innovations, particularly in hybrid stacking, SWIR sensing, LiDAR, and optical metasurfaces, are driving the evolution of 3D sensing solutions and are expected to unlock new opportunities for further market growth. What are the most promising real-world applications emerging in 3D sensing? How is the industry adapting to these changes? Which technologies hold the most potential, and what impact might they have on both the current and future market?
