The MEMS industry, projected to reach $20 billion by 2029, is at a pivotal juncture, balancing both obstacles and growth opportunities. Despite facing setbacks in 2023 and 2024, the sector is still propelled by major trends such as autonomous driving, AI, and Industry 4.0, which continue to drive demand. To sustain growth, MEMS devices need to be optimized in terms of efficiency, form factor, cost, robustness, and intelligence. We observe as well a shift to move from sensors to “sensor-based” solutions, including controllers, connectivity, and software to add functionalities.
