Science Foundry – Microfluidics for QATCH Technologies

Science Foundry is developing a production process to manufacture a wafer-scale microfluidics device for QATCH Technologies. QATCH’s nanovisQ is an acoustic lab-on-a-chip device that combines a capillary viscometer, an established rheology method, and a quartz based high shear-rate viscometer. QATCH’s proprietary sensor technology, the nanovisQ, can identify injectable and manufacturable drug formulations using a poppy-seed sized drop, thereby de-risking drug discovery for pharmaceutical companies.

The nanovisQ device requires fabricating microfluidic channels on a thin quartz substrate. The microfluidic channels are created through a unique combination of standard photolithography techniques, allowing for ultimate dimensional control and repeatability. Science Foundry has worked hand-in-hand with QATCH over the last year to transfer their process from an academic environment to an ISO9001 manufacturing line with great success.
