Vangard and Episil team up for 8″ SiC manufacturing in 2026

Hanlei and World Advanced announced a strategic cooperation to jointly promote the research, development and manufacturing of compound semiconductor silicon carbide (SiC) 8-inch wafer technology; World Advanced will spend NT$2.48 billion to subscribe for private equity common shares of Hanlei.

The board of directors of Hanlei has decided to handle a private placement capital increase case. World Advanced will subscribe for 50 million private placement common shares with a total amount of 2.48 billion yuan. World Advanced will acquire 13% of Hanlei’s equity.

Hanlei said that this cooperation with the world’s advanced companies will focus on the development and future mass production of 8-inch silicon carbide semiconductor wafer manufacturing technology. The relevant technology will be transferred from Hanlei in the initial stage, and mass production is expected to begin in the second half of 2026.

Han Lei pointed out that silicon carbide materials can effectively improve energy efficiency and can be widely used in electric vehicles, AI data centers, green energy storage, industrial control and consumer products. By combining the world’s advanced technological advantages and market resources, greater value will be created.

Xu Jianhua, chairman of Hanlei, said in a press release that Jiajing Electronics of Hanlei and World Advanced are long-term silicon epiwafer partners. This time, through the introduction of World Advanced, their strategic cooperation will be closer.

World Advanced Chairman Fang Lue said that World Advanced currently has power management IC, discrete components and gallium nitride (GaN) related technologies. With the introduction of silicon carbide technology, it will become a complete 8-inch wafer fab for type 3 compound semiconductors. , providing a complete power management technology platform from low power consumption to high power, low frequency to high frequency, to provide customers with more competitive solutions.
