Following Volkswagen’s announcement of the SSP platform for shipment in 2028, onsemi announced an LTA with Volkswagen in July.
- Supply chain
On-going 8” fab constructions: one of the key highlights is the change in Wolfspeed’s plan, as the company announced it would adjust its CapEx planning and postpone the German fab build-up. Read Yole Group’s insights.

In September, two Taiwanese foundry players, VIS (Vanguard) and Episil, announced they would team up for an 8” SiC project, targeting to start production by H2-26.

In Q3, Texas Instruments announced a joint innovation lab with Delta Electronics to develop onboard charging and power solutions for EVs.
- Substrates, epitaxy & device process:
At Semicon Taiwan 2024, ShinEtsu demonstrated for the first time 12-inch GaN-on-QST epiwafers… and started sampling. The company already supplies 6-inch and 8-inch sizes, having licensed the technology from Qromis since 2019.
