MARKET
The 2026 forecast moves up again to ~$165B, with the cycle now extended into 2027 and 2028 and the next digestion phase pushed to 2030. Q2 2026 results confirm the ramp is H2 weighted, as cleanroom availability and installation capacity pace revenue recognition rather than demand.

Wafer Fab Equipment dynamics with market shares, equipment technologies, and devices
The Semiconductor Wafer Fab Equipment Market Monitor tracks the market for equipment used for wafer-level semiconductor device processing on a quarterly basis. This equipment is the backbone of all semiconductor ecosystems and the enabler of the subsequent chip technology advancements and social digitization.
The monitor tracks the wafer fab equipment vendor revenues in relation to semiconductor chipmaker revenue and CapEx. It tracks the evolution of wafer fab equipment revenues over 2016-2025, the 2020-2025 market shares, the current quarterly data until Q2 2028, and provides insight into the 2026-2031 revenue forecast. Furthermore, the monitor provides the wafer fab equipment revenue broken down into equipment shipment revenue and service and support revenue. Equipment shipment revenue is further broken down by device application, process technologies, manufacturing nodes, wafer size, equipment morphology and region.
Supply, not demand, now paces the WFE cycle
We have raised the WFE forecast again this quarter, to around $165B in 2026 and $241B in 2031, leaving 2031 roughly 10% above our Q2 edition. AI investment in DRAM and HBM, in advanced logic, and in the packaging that supports them accounts for most of the revision. It also changes the shape of the cycle: growth now runs through 2027 and 2028, and the next digestion phase moves out to 2030.
The near-term profile remains uneven. Q2 2026 reached $39.3B, up 9.3% sequentially and 22.4% year on year, yet most of the 2026 acceleration still sits in the second half. Demand is no longer the binding constraint. Cleanroom availability, construction and installation capacity, subsystem lead times and labour in Southeast Asia now govern how quickly orders convert into shipments, and part of the 2026 upside will fall into 2027.
Technology mix is where the difference shows. Patterning leads, with EUV and DUV pulled by GAA logic and the DRAM node transitions, while deposition, etch and clean, metrology and inspection, and thinning and CMP all gain as content per wafer rises. ASML remains central in lithography, Applied Materials and Lam Research capture deposition and etch intensity, KLA benefits from process control demand, and EV Group, SUSS MicroTec and TEL are positioned on advanced packaging and bonding.
