ICULTA 2020

ICULTA 2020 is the second in a row of conferences on ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV LEDs) and their multiple applications. It brings together experts from science and industry to crosslink and to discuss related issues.

The conference gets its unique character by covering the whole value chain: It will highlight the state-of-the-art of UV LED technology, integration of UV LEDs into modules and systems as well as their application in industry and research. Opportunities and challenges with respect to applications in water treatment, advanced oxidation processes, air and surface disinfection will be discussed as well as emerging applications in the areas of medicine, life sciences, curing, sensing, horticulture, analytics, and other fields.

ICULTA 2020 will be held from April 26 to 29, 2020 at the MELIÃ Hotel in Berlin, Germany.

Abstract:  The UVA LED industry is already quite mature with many LED manufacturers coming from the visible LED industry. Regarding the UVC LED industry, the number of players is much more limited, mostly due to the difficulty to manufacture reliable and performant LEDs at such wavelengths. Water disinfection is currently the application where most of UVC LEDs are used but reactors in mass production are mostly limited in flow rates. Several system manufacturers are developing reactors and the majority are targeting Point of Use or Point of Entry applications. Only a few are involved in industrial or municipal application as the main issue is the number of UVC LEDs used and therefore the associated cost. More… here.
