Power-Up Virtual Expo 2020

Virtual Conference & Exhibition about Power Electronics — June 16–18, 2020
Open 24h a day with live presentations each day from 14:30 to 17:30 CEST / 8.30am to 11.30am EDT

The PowerUP EXPO is a three-day virtual conference and exhibition focusing on power electronics, open June 16–18.

The PowerUP EXPO works in the same way that a live exhibition and conference does: It provides fair grounds, an exhibition hall, and a conference area. Exhibitors present their products and solutions, and chat rooms allow for direct communication between visitors and exhibitors — all without the need for travel and at the fraction of the cost of a physical event.

Power electronics is playing an increasingly important role in various markets such as automotive, industrial, and consumer. It is also an enabling technology for a wide range of new functions that enhance automotive and smart grid performance, safety, and functionality. Wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductors, smart and renewable energies, and motion control will be significant topics covered by the PowerUP Virtual Conference.

Yole Développement will participate to the following:

Emerging market opportunities for WBG Semiconductors

On June 17 at 5:45PM during Wide-Bandgap Semiconductors session
Ezgi Dogmus, Technology & Market Analyst, Compound Semiconductors & Emerging Materials at Yole Développement

Abstract: Over the last two years, there has been remarkable adoption stories for WBGs from automotive to consumer power electronic applications. SiC has made its entry in Tesla’s cars in 2018, whereas GaN has found its way in leading smartphone OEMs’ fast chargers starting from 2019. While SiC continues its flight, GaN has only started its bright journey and is evolving very rapidly. In this talk, Yole Développement will present its analysis on market evolution and forecast in specific emerging markets such as automotive and consumer applications.

Opportunities for Power Electronics in Renewable Electricity Generation

On June 18 at 3:30PM during the Smart/Renewable Energies session
Milan Rosina, Principal Analyst , Power Electronics & Batteries at Yole Développement

Abstract: When considering the sustainable development of new electricity generation capacity and the advantages and drawbacks of different renewable electricity sources, photovoltaics (PV) and wind energy are today viewed as the most promising choice. Although PV and wind are already quite mature technologies, there is still a large untapped potential to increase their performance, reliability, and lifetime and decrease the costs of their power electronic components. In their talk, Yole Développement analysts will present the PV and wind inverter market forecasts and technology and supply chain trends. The technology and business synergies between PV, wind, and stationary battery energy storage markets will also be analyzed.
