Abstract:
In the dynamic power electronic industry, wide band gap materials Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN) have made remarkable entry over the last years and continue their market ascension.
After Tesla’s adoption of SiC in its inverters, another trend is reshaping the electric vehicle (EV) market, namely fast 800V EV charging allowing shorter charging stops. Apart from automotive, now industrial, energy and rail applications provide extra momentum to grow. The capacity build-up, business integration and new business models will bring SiC to another level in years to come.
Meanwhile, GaN continues entering consumer applications, mainly fast chargers for smartphones

With her valuable experience in the semiconductor industry, Claire manages the expansion of Yole’s global semiconductor team’s technical and market expertise. Daily interactions with leading companies allow these analysts to collect large amounts of data and cross-reference their vision of the market’s evolution and technological breakthroughs.
In addition, Claire focuses on managing the business relationships with leading companies in this sector and developing market research and strategy consulting activities inside the Yole Group.
Claire Troadec holds a Master’s degree in Applied Physics specializing in Microelectronics from INSA (Rennes, France). She then joined NXP Semiconductors and worked for 7 years as a complementary metal-on-silicon oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process integration engineer at the IMEC R&D facility. During this time, she oversaw the isolation and performance boosting of CMOS technology node devices from 90 nm down to 45 nm. She has authored or co-authored seven US patents and nine international publications in the semiconductor field and managed her own distribution company before joining Yole Group in 2013.
