SEMI Virtual Healthtech Summit

Microtechnology-Enabled Solutions in Overcoming COVID-19

Join us to hear industry experts discuss the opportunities and challenges surrounding the near and long-term future of the healthcare industry and how it will be shaped by the newest generation of smart and sensor driven technologies that enable data-driven and technological powered diagnosis and care.

The unprecedented impact and scale of COVID-19 has pushed the healthcare and medical technology communities to new operational levels. From technology industry leaders to agile start-ups, the global community has answered the call for introduction of innovative solutions with faster time-to-market and more rapid point-of-care testing. Microtechnology-enabled solutions, in particular, have been instrumental in the battle against COVID-19 – from wearable sensors to microfluidic technologies.

During the SEMI Virtual Healthtech Summit, industry experts will address the opportunities and challenges surrounding the near and long-term future of the healthcare industry and how it will be shaped by the newest generation of smart and sensor driven technologies that enable data-driven and technological powered diagnosis and care.

The program will also touch upon the importance of the global healthtech and microtechnology communities working together for greater pandemic preparedness, readiness and deployment in 2020 and beyond.

“Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Diagnostics Industry: a Microfluidic Point-of-view”

On July 16, 2020 at 3:20PM
Sébastien Clerc, Market & Technology Analyst – Microfluidics, Sensing & Actuating, Photonics & Sensing Division, Yole Développement

Abstract: As soon as the COVID-19 started to spread, diagnostics companies worldwide shifted their efforts to develop diverse types of tests to detect SARS-CoV-2 or the immune response it induces. In particular, many companies in the field of microfluidic technologies developed or are developing such tests. In this talk, Sébastien Clerc will share Yole’s vision of the pandemic impact on the diagnostics industry on the short and long term, provide examples of technologies used to detect the virus and explain the strategies of along with the difficulties faced by companies involved.
