CPO has gained a lot of attention recently due to its networking power efficiency in data centers. It confines the modules and host ASIC much closer to each other with the lower channel loss and lower power consumption. Artificial intelligence (AI) hype demands for higher transmission speeds and bandwidths. The traditional copper-based interconnect will become the main bottleneck for scaling and optical interconnects have emerged as attractive option for future AI trends.  This presentation will give an overview of CPO market trends focusing on datacom.  We will discuss the technology trends by few industrials’ key player. Last, we will discuss the challenges and innovations direction.

ABSTRACT:
The Power GaN business gained momentum in the consumer market around 2018-2019, with significant adoption in smartphone “in-box” and accessory fast chargers. Since then, the technology has emerged as a popular alternative to traditional silicon, enabling more efficient and compact power supplies. This shift has fueled a tenfold increase in the device market between 2019 and 2023. In addition to continued penetration in the consumer market, Yole will explore upcoming expansion opportunities expected to drive the Power GaN market beyond $2.5B by 2029. Additionally, this presentation will offer insights into the Power GaN landscape, with a particular focus on the Taiwanese ecosystem.
