ABSTRACT:
New features and performance are being enabled by photonics components across a broad spectrum of applications: night vision coming from military to smartphones; SiPhotonic platform for datacom enabling consumer sensor development and innovative automotive optical functions integration… just to name a few Photonic GaAs is mainly driven by datacom and 3D sensing in consumer segments. Consumer applications (LiDAR, 3D sensing, wearables…) have opportunities for InP where higher volumes are expected. These applications are attractive for several players who already have well-established businesses in the datacom/telecom and industrial markets. Those players are mainly based in North America and at lower end in Europe and Japan but the investment in China is very significant.

The presentation will provide an overview of the photonics applications, market trends as well as what we can expect for the future of this industry, with MicroLED displays around the corner, Lidar for automotive and consumer moving to high growth and SiPhotonics finding its way closer and closer to the board…
