Finalised PIC International agenda unveiled

PIC International kicks off with sessions on where should the laser go, increasing the capability of optical networks, driving deployment of PICs in datacentres and a question of materials: InP, silicon or something else? Themes for day two are what’s the role of the foundry and do we have the tools for designing, making, packaging and testing PICs?

The organisers of PIC International have now finalised the programme for the 2016 conference, which will take place in Brussels on Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 March.

“I have the honour of being the first chair of the PIC conference. As a person who has dedicated their career to integrated photonics, the timing for this conference could not be better: we are at a threshold point, may be even an inflection point in the evolution of photonic integrated circuits, and the conference represents an incredible interest level that speaks for itself: the next decade will drive new opportunities, new markets, and lots of business. Even though the evolution began 40 years ago, and there are many examples of PICs in commercial industry today, we as an industry are beginning to break through technology impediments and barriers to enable widespread use of this technology, greater than at any time before.” says Michael Lebby, Conference Chair of PIC International.

During the two-day conference delegates will hear 35 talks that have been split into six themes.

“This conference sets the scene for the next decade and will present how PIC technology will penetrate many applications, products, and technologies. PIC technology will enable amongst things, the internet of things and big data, with a vast compendium of solutions.” says Lebby.

This inaugural event brings together the best in class of the integrated photonics industry.

The conference will offer fantastic networking and learning opportunities between a very powerful speaker line up, influential sponsors and delegates. The quality of the conference and exhibition will make this the must attend integrated photonics conference in 2016.
