The 3D imaging and sensing market is expected to double its market value by 2028, thanks to intensified technological developments that are predicted to result in a 13% growth rate.
- The 3D imaging and sensing market generated US$8.2 billion in revenue in 2022 and it is expected to reach $17.2B in 2028, with a 13.2% CAGR.
- LG Innotek, STMicroelectronics, Sony, Ams, Coherent, Lumentum… The top 9 companies hold 88% of the consumer 3D camera module market.
- There is a strong technological push and intensive R&D effort being put towards supporting 3D imaging and sensing, particularly at the sensors, emitters, optics, and modules levels.
According to Yole Intelligence, part of Yole group, in the 3D Imaging & Sensing 2023 report, in 2022, the 3D imaging and sensing market generated US$8.2 billion in revenue, with the majority of the 409 million units shipped going towards the Mobile and Consumer markets. However, due to limited recent design wins, the revenue growth forecast for this segment has been revised downwards. ToF technology is gaining market share while structured light is predicted to decline. The focus in 3D sensing is shifting from mobile towards greater market diversification with applications in the automotive and industrial sectors. Smart home applications, such as drones, XR headsets, vacuum cleaner robots, smart door locks, and home appliances, are expected to double their market share by volume. Meanwhile, the Automotive market is set to experience impressive growth in ADAS LiDAR and in-cabin sensing, driven by the trend towards autonomous and new-energy vehicles. By 2028, the total 3D imaging and sensing market is projected to more than double to US$17.2 billion… For more information about this analysis, please contact us!
