XPeng P7i to launch in China with XNGP architecture enabling L4 ADAS functions

XPeng’s latest P7i model claims to have the automotive industry’s most advanced all-scenario driver assistance system, the XNGP architecture. The P7i will soon be delivered to customers in China.

The XNGP architecture boasts city navigation guided pilot (NGP), enhanced highway NGP and lane centering control (LCC) functions, in addition to valet parking assist (VPA), a mass-produced cross-level parking assistance function.

Enabling these smart functions is a hardware platform made up of dual lidar units and dual Nvidia Drive Orin-X system-on-chips (SoCs). These enable up to 508 TOPS of computing power, a 17-fold increase when compared to XPeng’s previous models. The P7i’s architecture is powered by 31 sensors which deliver an improved 360° perception capability to enable Level 4 ADAS functions in certain driving scenarios.

Additionally, XPeng’s proprietary Xmart OS 4.0 operating system is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA8155P chipset. Inside the model, the occupant’s control and driving experience is enhanced via a surrounding reality (SR) dashboard display which delivers a 360° simulation of the vehicle’s surrounding environment.

“The P7i exemplifies our pursuit of excellence and is the latest refinement of our vision of smart mobility,” said He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO, XPeng. “The P7i is bringing major upgrades to our highly successful P7 model, already enthusiastically received by customers. With the P7i, we are now delivering the world’s most advanced smart driving EV technologies to the world’s largest auto market.”
