Sony debuts glasses-free spatial reality display

Sony unveiled its Spatial Reality Display, eliminating the need for 3D glasses or additional peripherals to view 3D content on the 15.6-in display from multiple angles.Users can interact with the on screen content by moving around, viewing content on the display from any angle. The display works by tracking eye movement, sensing pupil positions through space on the vertical, horizontal and depth axes.

Sony’s rendering algorithm processes real-time content for each eye without latency, using a micro optical lens to divide the image into left and right eyes for stereoscopic viewing.

The Spatial Reality Display is also compatible with Unity and Unreal Engine 4, allowing for exporting of new and existing 3D content using Sony’s software development kit.
