YG PRESS NEWS – Semiconductor equipment subsystems: Q3 momentum amid 2023 challenges

Product Related

The semiconductor-related subsystems, components, and modules market is experiencing a resurgence in momentum during Q3, despite significant declines in both Q1 and Q2 of 2023.

  • In 2022, the overall market size reached US$46 billion, with subsystems commanding the majority of market share at 50%, trailed by modules at 34%, and components at 16%.
  • During the transition from Q2 to Q3, there has been a gradual rebound in both order volumes and revenue as the industry gazes toward 2024, potentially signaling the initiation of a fresh, multi-year growth stage.
  • As of 2022, Zeiss, MKS Instruments, and Edwards Vacuum occupy the first three positions in revenue rankings within the semiconductor subsystem industry.

According to Yole Intelligence, part of Yole Group, in the Semiconductor Equipment Subsystems Market Monitor, the first quarter of 2023 posed significant difficulties for subsystem suppliers. The decline in the WFE market and the substantial inventory levels maintained by OEMs led to a sharp decline in order placements during Q1. Nevertheless, most suppliers have managed to maintain profitability. Between Q2 and Q3, there has been a gradual resurgence in both orders and revenue as the industry looks ahead to 2024, possibly marking the commencement of a new multi-year growth phase… For more information about this analysis, please contact us!
