OLED, jointly developed by Denso and JOLED, adopted for the TOYOTA concept car “LQ”

JOLED, which develops, manufactures, and sells OLED displays, announced that its automotive OLED display, jointly developed with Denso, has been installed in Denso’s meter and built into TOYOTA’s concept car “LQ”.

The features of flexible OLED, such as its thin and light qualities, form flexibility, and high display performance featuring high contrast, wide viewing angle, and fast response, enable an unprecedented meter design and contributes to the realization of the innovative and high design interior proposed by the concept car.

As a concept car designed to provide a new experience in the future of mobility, “LQ” which combines AI agent and automated driving, will be introduced as the operating vehicle at the Olympic torch relay and the vehicle in the marathon. In addition, test rides/drives will be organized in the Tokyo Odaiba/Toyosu area during the duration of the Games.

Prior to this, a demonstration of “LQ” will be given at the “Future Expo” event in the MEGAWEB venue of the Tokyo Motor Show 2019 from October 24 to November 4, 2019.

About printed OLED displays
OLED is a self-illuminating device that delivers superb picture quality with high contrast, high color reproducibility, and fast response rate. It also combines advantages such as an ultra-thin profile, light weight, and flexibility. Owing to these characteristics, OLED is gaining attention as a next-generation display that will create new applications in a wide range of fields.

The printing method, which is one of the production methods for OLED display, applies and forms OLED materials by printing. With its simple production processes and the flexibility to cope with diverse screen sizes, the technology is expected to represent a major innovation in OLED display production.
